HBO has begun production of the ‘House of the Dragon’ series that will serve as a pre-sequence to the acclaimed production ‘Game of Thrones’.
The series is based on the novel ‘Fire & Blood’.
The story takes place three hundred years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones‘ and revolves around the Targaryen House. Over the course of 150 years, we will see the rise and fall of many leaders in Westeros.
In addition, the Targaryen Civil War, cited during ‘Game of Thrones‘, will also be explored further.
It is not yet known which characters in the George RR Martin novel will appear on the show, as the information indicates that “just because the characters are in Martin’s book, does not necessarily mean that everyone will be in the series or will be exactly as described”.
Scheduled to debut in mid-2022, it is worth remembering that Martin will not be involved with the HBO project.
Miguel Sapochnik will be in charge of the pilot episode and additional chapters. He is no stranger to the ‘Game of Thrones’ saga, as he has directed episodes such as Battle of the Bastards and The Long Night.
Ryan Condal (‘Colony’) and Miguel Sapochnik will be co-showrunners of the production. Condal will be on charge of the script.
