The Batman may have been delayed, but the Bat universe continues to expand. According to Variety, HBO Max has commissioned the Gotham PD series , which will focus on the police force in DC Comics’ most chaotic city.
According to the website, Matt Reeves and Terrence Winter are involved in the project. The goal is to launch a Batman universe that is connected across multiple platforms. The series will focus on the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City.
Winter (The Sopranos) will be the scriptwriter and executive producer on the series, a role he shares with Reeves. Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassan, and Dylan Clark are also involved in the project’s creative team, which will be carried out through the Warner Bros. Studio.
Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for HBO Max, praised the project and said she was very happy with the partnership between DC and Warner.
This is the second live-action series focused on the Gotham police. The first was Fox’s Gotham, which showed the journey of Commissioner Jim Gordon and the growth of young Bruce Wayne, totaling 100 episodes between the years 2014 and 2019.
