There are only five days left for Aladdin to make its inaugural entry in theaters and critics have already spoken about the remake of the new Disney movie. After the preview of the premiere that has been enjoyed by a few privileged, the first reactions of the film, mostly positive, have not taken long to be voiced to the public.
Twitter has been swamped with publications ranging from the interpretative assessment of the actors to the analysis of the story itself. Alex Leadbeater from Screen Rant has referred to the movie as “fairly good,” adding in his review that the characters are faithful to the original film and that the good atmosphere between them transmits an emotion that captivates the audience.
Surprise, #Aladdin is fairly good. Mainly because it nails the characters. Massoud/Scott's chemistry is top, Smith's cocky/emotional sides make Genie mostly fresh. Those three (and high-energy songs) help pull up the story, which is usual Disney remake approach (expand and "fix") pic.twitter.com/SUUzf31y0G

What has become a widespread criticism has been the performance of Jafar in the film, where Digital Spy has made clear their disappointment with the phrase: “the less you talk about Jafar, the better”. Leadbeater has also given his negative opinion towards the villain.
Wasn't too fussed by this guy though… pic.twitter.com/NiXJfF8QZg

However, their criticism of the film has been favorable, qualifying it as “luxurious and pleasant” and congratulating Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott on their interpretation. They have also commented that Will Smith creates a “funny energy” with the Genie, even though the CGI of his character is not up to par.
#Aladdin Thoughts: A lavish and enjoyable retelling, but not enough of A Whole New World to fully succeed.
Mena Massoud/Naomi Scott are great, while Will Smith brings a fun energy to his take on the Genie, even if the CGI lets him down. The less said about Jafar, the better 😬 pic.twitter.com/LTJfkVZKYn— Digital Spy (@digitalspy) May 8, 2019
In general, the opinions are quite positive, highlighting above all the funny performance of the genie, Will Smith. Some even admitted that their expectations before watching the film were quite low and that it ended up pleasantly surprising them.
My expectations were in the gutter, but #Aladdin was so much more fun than it had the right to be. The two leads were great and the visuals were amazing. Much better than Dumbo.

I had the lowest of expectations going into #Aladdin but you know what? I actually quite liked it! It's not perfect by any means but I'm pleasantly surprised. pic.twitter.com/2ecF3QMnwb

Everything seems to point to the fact that Aladdin’s remake will be a box-office success, but we’ll have to wait until May 24 to check out that talked about chemistry between the Genie and the protagonist, which has made the critics laugh so much.
