Emilia Clarke appears ready to burn bridges. The actress has not been seen on the screen since she released the romantic comedy ‘ Last Christmas ‘ last November. Much further was the ending of ‘ Game of Thrones, but she did comment in a recent interview what she would like to do next.
The list of actors who are joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe is increasing. Last year, the last season of GOT greatly disappointed fans who followed the series throughout its eight installments. One of the most controversial turns was the abrupt change in Clarke’s character, Daenerys, who suddenly sparked her desire for revenge, destruction and to conquer everything regardless of the consequences. The actors had to deal with all kinds of comments from their followers, which made their departure from the show even more exhausting.
In a recent interview for The Times, Emilia Clarke opened up about her upcoming career plans, especially after spending a decade on the acclaimed HBO show. The actress confessed that right now she is eager to do something relaxed and stupid like a movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Without a doubt this may sound offensive to fans of The Avengers, however, the interpreter continued saying that her goal is to work on something that she can have fun with her colleagues:
“I want to do something absolutely stupid and silly, like, you know, the Avengers or something.” The actress clarified that she would like to partake in a project “where I can have a laugh with colleagues“, she told The Times. An unfortunate choice of words to suggest, rather, “something easier” at the interpretive level. Perhaps after this, Marvel fans will not be too keen on welcoming her with open arms in the “stupid and silly” Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Clarke is no stranger to blockbusters or franchises, and she has not been very lucky with them at the moment. She became the new Sarah Connor in ‘ Terminator Genesis ‘, a movie that cost more than $ 150 million and grossed an excessively tight $ 440 million at the worldwide box office. Then she tried her fortune in a galaxy far, far away with ‘ Han Solo: A Star Wars Story ‘. The prequel had a rather bumpy production and a budget of $ 275 million, and ended up raising just $ 392 million . Very little, it should have been higher since it’s a film with the ‘Star Wars’ label.
Today, Emilia Clarke is in London’s West End playing ‘The Seagull’, the classic from Anton Chekhov. If you were casting directors at Marvel Studios, what role would you give the former Khaleesi? Let us know in the comments on our social accounts.
