Scott Derrickson is the kind of director who makes horror films. He has previously directed several horror films, such as Sinister, Deliver Us from Evil and The Excorsisim of Emily Rose. But in 2016, Scott Derrickson abandoned the horror cinema to make a completely different kind of film: a superhero film. He is the director of the first opus of Doctor Strange. However, it looks like Scott Derrickson wants to return to his first love.

It was during a dinner that the idea came to light. Actor Joel McHale asked Scott Derrickson what kind of Star Wars film he would like to make, if he had the chance or the opportunity. The director responded: “I would make, and my answer was an R-Rated Hoth movie in the vein of The Thing.” He published in a tweet – now removed – explaining his idea.

Of course, Scott Derrickson would be a very good choice for making a horror film about the Star Wars universe, especially given his previous achievements. But the director tweeted that it was just a simple idea and that “it will never happen”. It is unlikely that Disney will agree to produce an R-rated film, since the studio is trying to offer a “family” oriented universe.

Although Scott Derrickson is excluded from the production of the next Doctor Strange, he remains one of the executive producers of the film. Additionally, Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madnes, slated for May 2021, will be the first MCU film to feature horror film elements .
