Last Thursday we said goodbye to Christopher Tolkien , the third son of JRR Tolkien, creator of the The Lord of the Rings saga, who died at 95 years of age, leaving an impressive tribute to his father’s work and vision.
But Christopher Tolkien was not only the third son of one of the most brilliant writers in history, he was also his most faithful assistant and greatest admirer. From an early age, Christopher went into his father’s office helping him create the amazing locations and species of Middle-Earth, it’s because of him that we have the magnificent map that now accompanies many editions from the books. Including the book of Silmarillion, the story he set up based on his father’s writings that were never published and that helped to bring coherence to the writings of The Lord of the Rings.
But Christopher Tolkien is not going to be missed only in the literary world, the saga created by his father managed to become one of the most profitable trilogies in the history of cinema thanks to Peter Jackson, who knew how to condense the whole world of Tolkien into three unforgettable films.
One of the most celebrated actors who participated in the films, Elijah Woods who played the brave Hobbit Frodo Baggins, wanted to say goodbye to Christopher Tolkien in an emotional Twitter message:
Sad to hear about the passing of Christopher Tolkien. The world would not know of the vast tales of Middle-Earth had it not been for his extraordinary work. Namárië
