Many will always remember the iconic scene from the movie “The Lion King” in which Rafiki picks up Simba in his arms in front of the rest of the animals on King’s Rock. Well, it seems that the same scene was recreated by a monkey that had taken a lion cub, but with a tragic ending.

In the Kruger National Park in South Africa, a worker realized the event and began to record with his cell phone showing the monkey on top of a tree playing with the little feline. Soon it went viral and was shared all over social media.

However, unlike the animated cartoon, the baby animal did not have a happy ending. The baboon had stolen the little lion and took him up a marula tree along with his other companions. At first, the park guide thought it was a female primate, but it turned out to be a male.

For almost 30 minutes, the man was able to observe how the monkey moved the little one from one side to the other while grooming and taking care of it as if it were its baby. Unfortunately, the sudden rapid movements of the baboon caused the feline to suffer fatal blows.

According to local media, the lion cub died instantly at the hands of its peculiar caretaker. It is not unusual for a group of baboons to kill young leopards or lions, but the behavior and incident was recorded on video and went viral.

Some users on social networks were shocked by the event and accused the caretaker of negligence, who wasted time filming the event instead of intervening to save the cub.
