The future of the DC Extended Universe is perhaps one of the most complex and uncertain franchises, since it is unknown what will happen after ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’and ‘The Flash’ are released. One of the biggest doubts is whether it will officially reinstate Ben Affleck to the role of Batman, but apparently, there are already plans for the character, since, according to some reports, DC is preparing a ‘Trinity’ movie.
The return of Ben Affleck to the role of Batman for the Flash solo film has raised fans expectations, although it is unknown if his arrival will be a final goodbye to the role due to the setbacks he has had in the past. It is not ruled out that, given the success of this version, he may be considered for subsequent features.
According to information from Mikey Sutton, DC is preparing a ‘Trinity’ movie, where we will see Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman together again facing off against the sorceress Morgaine le Fey. Although this story might be used to inspire the development of other films, what has attracted attention is seeing both Henry Cavill’s Superman, who has not returned to the role after ‘Justice League’, in addition to seeing Batman, however, it is not known if it will be the Ben Affleck version.
Apparently Batman’s future within the DCEU is still relatively uncertain and maybe it depends on the reception from ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ and ‘The Flash’ to know what Warner and DC will decide, if it rescues Ben Affleck, or, bet on uniting Robert Pattinson to the DC Extended Universe permanently as the Dark Knight.
