One of the best movies from the ’90s is Face/Off, directed by John Woo, with John Travolta and Nicolas Cage in the roles of a highly lunatic criminal, and a highly risky cop who swapp their faces and get into more trouble.

Face/Off is one of the best action movies bestowed upon humanity in the 90s. The project was announced in 2019 as a reboot to be under management by Oren Uziel, one of the directors of 22 Jump Street, but today we have a huge update. Evidently, the new Face/Off project will not be a reboot but a direct sequel to the original film, and will now be forged by Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard.

“I would NEVER re-imagine or remake FACE/OFF,” Wingard said. “It’s a perfect action movie. Simon Barrett and I are writing a direct SEQUEL! 🙂 :).”

You have to admit, Face/Off is a jewel from the 90s action cinema genre, best of all, we can at least be glad that its name will not be tarnished by a remake, although it will be interesting to see how Wingard and Barret will present the sequel. Will John Travolta and Nicolas Cage reprise their roles and exchange their now wrinkled faces?

Face/Off was released in 1997, and most of us still have a dusty VHS copy of the film. The sequel does not have a release date yet.
