During Christmas people almost always strive to give the most original gifts. From handmade gifts to some very expensive ones.
On that note, a man decided to give his siblings and parents DNA tests in order to reveal the genealogical origin of his family, without imagining that his ‘innocent’ present would uncover an intimate family secret.
The story was told by the user Snorkels721 on the social network Reddit. According to the story, before Christmas he bought six tests from AncestryDNA for his family – one for him, two for his parents, and two for his sisters and brother – that would later be sent to a laboratory for analysis.
However, his mother reacted negatively and said she did not want to do it because it contained ‘dangerous chemicals’, although the young man explained that no chemical was involved.
After a brief discussion, the parents locked themselves in their room. The brothers began to suspect that one of them had a different father, however they committed to continue to love one another regardless of the results from the DNA tests.
In a second update from the same post, it said that their parents revealed the true story: the oldest daughter has another father, who died shortly after his birth.
“A good friend of my moms was able to help her through the darkest time in her life, and they went on to fall in love and create the rest of our family, “said Snorkels721, affirming that this revelation united the family.
“This is a Christmas that we will never forget. And yes, we are all excited to get our test results. Merry Christmas everyone!,” said the Snorkels721.
