Vitali Vivchar, managed to establish a new Guinness record after bench pressing 50 kg, about 110 pounds, 76 times, an event that was shared as an extraordinary viral video.
A new viral video has been strongly captivating the attention of thousands of users on social networks, after Vitali Vivchar, from the Russian city Tomsk, Siberia, broke the world bench press record with 50 kilos and accomplishing it completely underwater. Local media reported that the man managed to lift the weight 76 times, beating the previous record set last year by American Greg Wittstock with 62 reps.
Prior to this footage that was covered by Today’s News, Vivchar said “I came across the official Guinness world record a couple of years ago after seeing a man lifting a barbell underwater. Then I thought that I had enough skills to do that myself. I have experience of winning bench press competitions, I won the European Russian-style bench press tournament. And I’m an amateur freediver. So I applied to set a new record.”
Before achieving this incredible record, the athlete was training for the last two months to carry out his attempt at Lake Lebiazhie near Tomsk on August 13. All the vitals of the athlete were monitored by various experts and independent observers. “I was really anxious because the water became cold and muddy due to the bad weather. Moreover, I was really nervous before my performance. My pulse rate was more than 108 beats per minute! It took me a long time to calm down,” Vivchar detailed on the video, posted on his Instagram account.
Now, Vitali will have to present the necessary documents and evidence for his result to be officially recognized and included in the Guinness Book of Records. Aquaman has not commented on this and is also hard to find because he lives in the water.
