When Disney acquired FOX, it not only obtained the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters, but also retained the franchise rights with great potential like Alien, Predator and Avatar.

Ridley Scott recently admitted that another new Alien movie is in the early stages of production and will be released under the 20th Century Studio banner. But Disney expects a spin-off with a young Ellen Ripley.

Sigourney Weaver, at one point, was preparing to reprise the role of Ellen Ripley in a film by Neill Blomkamp director of District 9, who intentionally would have ignored parts three and four from James Cameron’s Alien. In addition, Michael Biehn was also to return as Hicks, but this obviously never happened.

Since they chose the films Prometheus (2012) and Covenant (2017), the revenue of these films was high, but fans of the saga are not too satisfied with them. Despite the fact that they explained the history of the engineers, these huge space beings who gave life to Earth and created the Aliens.

The actress is 71 years old, but has never ruled out the possibility of returning to the Alien saga. And if Disney makes a movie about a young Ripley, it will hire a new actress to play the heroine. Nevertheless, they can always use Sigourney Weaver in a certain way to pay tribute, or so she can say goodbye to the franchise.

It is also speculated that they are not betting on the cinema, but on making a television series. Since streaming may be a suitable venue for the Alien saga and will provide new content for the Disney + platform, this is relatively similar to what they are doing with the Marvel and Star Wars projects.
