A slight buzz in the entertainment the news.
In recent times, many horror classics of the 1980s have garnered a remake, reboot, or sequel, which in some cases has been favorable, though most have simply failed. However, a film that has stayed away from rumors or news from audiences was ‘The Fly’, directed in 1986 by David Cronenberg, starring Jeff Goldblum. It’s Oscar winning special effects, to this day, remain frightening. And although it seemed that no one was interested in continuing this story, there are reports that it does seek to make a comeback.
According to some reports, there is interest in creating a new sequel for The Fly. We must remember that the Cronenberg film is itself a remake of the 1958 film. It even had a sequel in 1989 in which Cronenberg was not involved and unfortunately, did not capture the mystery, horror or depth of the previous one.
On one occasion, Cronenberg was interested in making and writing an official sequel for The Fly himself but abandoned it for budget reasons. Now it is said that the plan to remake said sequel is back on track, although it is unknown if the director will be involved in the project. This sequel will do, what most other movies which have been remade several years later, with the same creative team: is directly continue the story of the first installment and ignore everything that has happened in the previous two films. We have seen this case with Halloween in 1978 and its sequel in 2018, which are about a complete a new trilogy.
The report says that Goldblum’s return to the sequel to The Fly would also be sought, although it is not known how he would join the project, after the end of the original film his character has a fatal outcome. Likewise, it is said that this time a woman would be sought to star in the project, and in this way, give a refreshing twist to the proposal and explore other possibilities of the story.
