A shocking incident happened to a father and son about 6 miles off the coast of Tasmania, in Australia, when a huge great white shark attacked their boat and almost capsized it.
Sean and James Vinar had gone fishing near Barrenjoey Island, while the young man was filming a colony of seals which are common in that area, seen in the distance. The father slowed down so that his son could get a better shot when suddenly, they felt an impact that almost made them fall into the water, they told The Islander.
“The next minute we noticed a very strong bump on the side of the boat. The shark came out of the water and caught against the side of the boat,” Sean said.
Immediately, the father took off as fast as they could go on his boat which is just over 16 feet in length, when again, the shark attacked from the other side with a strong blow using its tail fin, causing them to fear for their lives.
Realizing that the shark was still insisting on the attack, Sean yelled for his son to hold on tight and headed for shore at full speed.
The experience was recorded on video and a slow motion version was shared on social networks. You can clearly see when the shark rams the boat and the tail fin comes out of the water.
This is the second time so far this month that a similar event has been recorded in Tasmania. About 15 days ago, a huge shark grabbed a 10-year-old boy from a boat and dragged her into the water. Fortunately, his father jumped into the water, scared the shark and was able to save the little one.
