Marvel Studios finally revealed the role that Christian Bale will play in Thor: Love and Thunder and is a relatively recent character from the comics.
The actor will be tasked with giving life to Gorr, the God Butcher, a character created in 2013 by writer Jason Aaron and cartoonist Esad Ribic, a being who hates the gods and has sworn to exterminate them all.
The most important detail of Gorr is that he has in his possession the Necrosword, an ancient sword created from the head of a Celestial, which was forged by Knull, the being that gave life to symbiotes such as Venom and Carnage.
The weapon, which has various characteristics, has the ability to slaughter Asgardians and create creatures forged from darkness.
Another important detail in the comics has to do with the fact that Gorr fought against Thor in ancient times, slmostvsucceding in assassinating the God of Thunder in the place that is now Iceland, and has subsequently faced the God of Thunder even in the distant future.
This comic storyline probably won’t matter, since historically Marvel Studios only takes mild inspiration from those kinds of sagas. In fact, more important in Thor: Love and Thunder will be the emergence of a dying Jane Foster, who is destined to take over Mjölnir and become the Mighty Thor.
