One of the most notorious scandals in 2020 was the legal battle of Johnny Depp against his ex-wife Amber Heard and The Sun newspaper for defamation for calling the actor a “wife-beater” and after multiple accusations, the verdict finally has finally been given. However, fans of the Jack Sparrow interpreter will not like the court’s ruling.

The marriage between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard was one of the most controversial in Hollywood, the actress revealed that she was physically assaulted on more than one occasion. The accusations took a turn when the actor showed evidence that he was also attacked by the actress, something that surprised all of Hollywood, but countercharges from both parties emerged for several days.

After a long wait, it was finally revealed that Johnny Depp lost the case against Amber Heard and The Sun, Judge Andrew Nicol considered that the actor did attack Heard, and considered a “wife-beater.”

“The Claimant has not succeeded in his action for libel,” read a court summary to USA TODAY. “Although he has proved the necessary elements of his cause of action in libel, the Defendants have shown that what they published in the meaning which I have held the words to bear was substantially true.”

In addition to these words it was said that Amber Heard’s actions were “sick” and “misleading” and it was also established that she was an aggressor, although as such, there was no defamation in the words spoken by the outlet.

But everything seems to point to the fact that this will not be the first case since Depp sued Heard in Virginia for an article published in the Washington Post. The actor is demanding an amount of 50 million dollars and November 11 will be the first confrontation in that court.
