After the success of John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum, Lionsgate gave the go-ahead for a movie set in the assassin’s universe.
The feature film will focus on a young murderer seeking revenge against the people who killed her family.
Despite that the production is in its early stages of work, the Deadline website reports that the director has already been confirmed.
It is Len Wiseman (Total Recall, Live Free or Die Hard and Swamp Thing), while Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead and John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum) is working on the script.
It is not yet known who will be the protagonist of Ballerina, but the web report highlights that “she was seen in the last John Wick movie” and they believe that it could be the character played by Unity Phelan.
According to director Chad Stahelski, the film will be a combination of Nikita (1990) and will have a style similar to that of the filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Matthew Vaughn.
In John Wick 3, we can see some details of this project, since it is revealed that the protagonist is of Russian origin and was trained by Ruska Roma, who is led by ‘The Director’ played by actress Anjelica Huston.
This will be the third project involving the John Wick franchise, as they recently announced the launch of a video game, a television series and a fourth film that closes the story about Baba Yaga.
