Brevoort revealed that Superman’s victory in the fight was decided by him, Busiek, George Perez and DC editor Dan Raspler. He said that each of them believed that Thor would lose the fight.

Brevoort talked about the consequences of the decision. He said he still hears about the fight to this day, with some fans suggesting conspiracy theories that Busiek was looking for a job at DC Comics and decided to make Superman win to give him a better position at the publisher.

In the blog post, he says he does not apologize for the decision, “But I still think it was the right move for the story, and the right outcome for the characters, and so I don’t apologize for it.”.

Brevoort said the fight and the comments that followed were a situation that the fans clamored for, but no matter what the outcome, either side would definitely be upset.
