Disney plans to continue adapting its animated classic stories to modern versions with real actors, and it already has its next project on the horizon. Disney has announced that ‘Robin Hood’ live-action as one of its next films to be developed.
The film was released in 1973 as an animated film reimagining the legend as a musical adventure set in a world populated by anthropomorphic animals, including Robin as a fox and Little John as a bear.
It was a box office hit at the time and so far the movie is still very popular with Disney fans, thanks in large part to its portrayal of archer Robin and memorable tunes like ‘Oo De Lally.’
With ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Aladdin’ released in 2019, Disney grossed more than a billion dollars at the box office, although ‘Dumbo’ didn’t do so well, it still propelled the studio to continue in this trend.
The company has more remakes planned for the coming years, starting with the delayed movie ‘Mulan’ in July, it is also known that it is working on similar projects for its streaming platform.
Kari Granlund will return for this project, who also wrote the script for the live-action ‘Lady and the Tramp’, with the direction of Carlos LΓ³pez Estrada.
The ‘Robin Hood’ live-action will be a CGI-mixed musical and will once again feature anthropomorphic animal versions of the characters Robin, Little John, Maid Marian and Prince John.

The implication seems to be that the animals in ‘Robin Hood’ will be less realistic and more expressive than the creatures in the remakes of ‘The Lion King’ and ‘The Jungle Book’.
This should be good news for those who have already been put off by the idea of ββa ‘Robin Hood’ remake trying to completely remove the stylization from the 1973 animated film.
At the moment, there is no release date for the ‘Robin Hood’ live-action.
