Creatures living on the moon? It may be possible since an Israeli vehicle carrying thousands of dehydrated tardigrades on board crashed into it. They are microorganisms also known as water bears that are the most unstoppable beings on Earth because they can survive extreme conditions.

The ship that crashed was named Beresheet and in addition to these small beings it also carried in their cargo samples of human DNA, a library the size of a DVD with a lot of information about human knowledge, a complete copy of Wikipedia in English, drawings for children, memories of a Holocaust survivor, among other contents.

Water bears are recognized for their ability to survive in extreme situations of pressure and temperatures. They can survive for longer than 10 years without water because they have the ability to lower their metabolism to near death.

Nova Spicvak founder of Arc Mission, an organization that compiled the information carried within the capsule, explained through his Twitter account that the microorganisms are inside a kapton airtight capsule, a high-strength material and that they are not capable of reproducing on the moon.

The organization also stressed that tardigrades cannot move or reproduce on the moon and that they need adequate atmosphere and hydration for potential resuscitation.
