On July 28, The Daily Beast did a report called “How An Ex-Cop Rigged McDonald’s Monopoly Game And Stole Millions.” This article referred to the promotional game carried out year after year between McDonald’s and Hasbro which gives people the opportunity to win various tokens based on the Monopoly properties, prizes like money amongst other things.

But the note focused on Jerome Jacobson, a former cop who created a criminal network that allowed him to render a masterful scam. Since he worked for the company that supervised the game, he had access which gave him the chance to thieve the winning pieces, these were distributed amongst friends and relatives who shared a percentage of the winnings with him.

His scam obviously went on for years and was finally stopped when the FBI got involved, which will be the main focus of the movie.

Deadline recently reported that 20th Century Fox took over the rights of the story, with Ben Affleck signed on as director and Matt Damon as the protagonist. It will be produced by his company, Pearl Street Films, and the story will be written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, known for their work in Zombieland and the Deadpool films. That sounds like an onsouble of pure front-line talent to make this project based on a story that practically writes itself.
