Zack Snyder participated in a watch party for his film Batman v Superman through the social network VERO, during the fourth anniversary of the premiere of the film. The director revealed several elements and insights about his involvement in the DC universe, and one of the things he mentioned was the existence of Martian Manhunter and how he knew the the secret identity of Superman.

According to the director, General Swanwick’s character was aware that Clark Kent was Superman from the beginning and still would not have revealed it to the United States government. The reason: The general was actually Martian Manhunter, an alien hidden among humans.

Zack Snyder was planning to bring to the big screen an exceedingly different version of the Justice League that we didn’t get to see. Ever since the existence of a director’s cut was confirmed, fans have organized requests through social networks and Snyder has continued to reveal unpublished photographs, videos and storyboards of his own version of the film.

Among the things he shared, he confirmed that Martian Manhunter, was involved ever since Man of Steel hidden in the character of General Swanwick played by actor Harry Lenix and that he was to reveal himself to Louis Lane in Snyder’s version of Justice League, according to the following storyboard :

For those who don’t know him, Martian Manhunter is an allied character of the Justice League, who has the ability to morph his appearances and go unnoticed among humans while carrying out missions and investigations.

This would explain why the character was able to hide amongst those in the Pentagon as a military man. He appeared in three DCEU films: Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Justice League, all movies directed (in part) by Zack Snyder.

It also explains why the general was never intimidated by Superman during the interrogation scene in Man of Steel, when the best superhero in the history of superheroes breaks his handcuffs and confronts the military man through the glass. All other members in the room retreat in fear except, Martian Manhunter. He’s like… “Calm down bro, you’re not the only one who can do that.”

The general also approaches Superman in the ending scene of “Man of Steel” and calls him “stupid,” unafraid of the consequences.

There has been much speculation that Zack Snyder is getting ready to release his version of Justice League and many fans on social networks have been wanting to see this version of the film, especially after the disappointment that resulted in the cut that hit theaters. Warner still has not specified whether they will release it.
