Video games and physical exercise can help you lose weight, according to a study conducted by researchers at the Louisiana State University in the United States. Doing this can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol in overweight children.

The researchers analyzed children of ages 10 to 12 who were suffering from overweight and obesity. At the beginning of the experiment, a control group of 23 families were randomly selected, where they were encouraged to complete 60 minutes per day of physical activity and they were given an “Xbox 360” and a “Kinect” to play with some friends or relatives for six months.

They were also given a book manual with objectives to complete three one-hour play sessions each week and a “Fitbit” to measure their steps each day.

The scientists found that the use of video games reduced the body mass index by 3% and cholesterol by 7%.

In addition, another study conducted by the University of Lowa showed that playing at least 10 hours a week helps delay brain wear and keeps cognitive skills active.

This is because video games exercise the brain helping to reduce the chances of developing mental illness. They also improve stress because they allow the person to release stress and anger through gameplay.
