Newt Scamander has been left without his villain, as it was confirmed this Friday, November 6, that actor Johnny Depp resigned from ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’, because Warner Bros. asked him to leave the project, something that he accepted without conflict.
“I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and I have respected and agreed to that request,” he communicated through his Instagram account.
Through his Instagram account, the actor who played Gellert Grindelwald for this saga published a statement announcing his resignation, also thanked all the people who showed their loyalty and their kindness, as well as hinted that this decision was possibly made after losing in the trial against The Sun.
He also said that the trial he lost earlier in the week against the tabloid will not bring him down because he wants to prove his innocence at all costs, and, he will appeal the decision that was made in court in England.
After it was announced that Johnny Depp resigned from ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’, Warner Bros. issued a brief statement saying: ““Johnny Depp will depart the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise. We thank Johnny for his work on the films to date. ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ is currently in production, and the role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast. The film will debut in theaters worldwide in the summer of 2022.”
On November 2, 2020, London judge Andrew Nicol gave his verdict in favor of The Sun, after the outlet was sued for accusing Depp of being an aggressive husband against Amber Heard. Despite this, the actor’s fans have not stopped supporting him, they still believe that he is innocent.
