Last week, the Marvel fandom received the heartbreaking news that the MCU would not move forward with Tom Holland as Spider-Man. The Twitterverse even exploded with righteous indignation by using the hashtag #SaveSpiderMan to voice their concerns. Now we can all breathe a sigh of relief and excitement.

Speaking at Disney’s D23 Expo this weekend, Tom Holland gave us hope that he will return as Spider-Man. “Basically, we’ve made five great movies,” Holland told the excited crowd. “Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.” Tom echoed a similar statement at Philadelphia’s Keystone Comic-Con saying, “There’s definitely more to come. We sat down with some of our creatives. We pitched Spider-Man 3, which is going to be something very special. It’s going to be something very different.”

Up to this point, Marvel and Disney have not announced any future plans for a Spider-Man movie. But given Tom Holland’s history of revealing well-kept secrets, we have reason to expect to see Tom Holland as Spider-Man once again.
