Tom Hiddleston originally wanted to be Thor and auditioned for the role, which he obviously did not get. However, the audition did open up the door for him to become Loki. For the first time video of him wielding the hammer have been released.

Tom Hiddleston arrived at the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the idea of acting as Thor and not as Loki. He seems to be the perfect fit for the god of mischief role, but at the beginning, when Disney was barely building the franchise and looking for relatively not so well known actors for new characters, Hiddleston seemed to be a good candidate.

The actor prepared his first audition to act as Thor for the movie that was scheduled to be released in 2011. Recently, during an interview on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, they show a clip where you can see Hiddleston do a test scene for Disney and Marvel producers.

The casting directors immediately recognized that the actor was not a good fit for the god of thunder but was genetically destined to play Loki , and so it was. In fact he never had to audition for that role, they simply understood that he was the one.

Tom Hiddleston will be Loki again in a series dedicated to the character that will premiere on Disney+ in spring 2021. He will focus on the version of the character that escaped the 2012 events of Avengers: Endgame. He will also have a direct connection with Doctor Strange: In the Miltiverese of Madness, the sequel to the character’s solo film.
