Spider-Man 3 is taking it upon itself to reunite our favorite childhood villains. Thomas Haden Church could return as Sandaman in Spider-Man 3.
Reports are emerging consistently about formal actors returning Spider-Man. While the famous informant Daniel Ritchman assures that Willem Dafoe will put on the suit of the schizophrenic Green Goblin, Iluminerdi has also revealed that Thomas Haden Church will reprise his role as the criminal Flint Marko from Spider-Man 3 (2008). According to the report, both Dafoe and Church are in the final stages of their agreements for the next Spider-Man movie.
Perhaps what excites fans the most about the return of Sandman, is all the possible ways in which Marvel Studios could exhibit the character. Maybe in the from of an Elemental animation as it already happened in Far From Home, or the alternate story which includes the murder of Uncle Ben.
Sandman was not the best villain of the first Spider-Man trilogy nor was he the worst, in fact, he just seemed to be very confused and worried about his family. But despite his small prominence in Spider-Man 3, he has a pretty solid story, with a dark past as the criminal who accidentally murdered Uncle Ben and fell into a sandpit to become the Sandman, who then joined forces with Venom. They attempted to finish Peter off in a fight that was being broadcast live on television, while New York watched his Spider-Man suit ripped apart and was almost killed. The defeat of Sandman was an emotional rollercoaster.
Spider-Man 3 will be released on December 17, 2021, and while the introduction of Sandman and the Green Goblin is yet to be unveiled officially, the film will unite all three generations of Spider-Man with the addition of Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx as Electro.
