When the second season of The Witcher series returns to Netflix will fix what the production team (and some viewers) consider to be the biggest mistake in the first season. What is it? The soldiers armor design of Nilfgaard and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich which they have confirmed to redesign in the new episodes.
Speaking in the Writing Experience podcast, Hissrich commented on the criticisms received about these suits and acknowledged that it is one of the mistakes from the first season that will be corrected in future episodes.
”Everything about The Witcher has been a real learning process for me. It’s the beauty of being able to do this for the first time and then get to come back and do it again.” he explained in the podcast.
Then he reinforced that ” Season two is exciting. It’s a chance to look at the mistakes we’ve made in season one and do it better, tell stories better, improve some things, look at what didn’t work, get rid of it and start over. The Nilfgaardian armor will be totally different. “You have that opportunity [with Season 2] to go back and course-correct if you want to.”
The armor in question, seen for the first time many months before the premiere in photos of the shooting, became the subject of discussion on the Internet for being confusing and even ridiculous,as was the opinion of many viewers. It has been criticized, specifically, for its strange form and how unfavorable it seems in comparison to the armor designed by CD Projekt RED in the video games.
“What was important for us about the Nilfgaardian army was to bring it away from the Cintran army,”, the showrunner recently stated in an interview with IGN where he addressed this issue that seems to have bothered many people.
Hopefully the design chosen by those responsible for the series will change it in the new episodes. Let’s see if they manage to appease the fans.
