This is the first trailer for ‘Doctor Sleep,’ the sequel to ‘The Shining’, starring Ewan McGregor, directed by Mike Flanagan.
The adaptation of Doctor Sleep is on its way and therefore the first preview of the film that will premiere on November 8 has been released. Directed by Mike Flanagan and starring Ewan McGregor, the film will tell us about the adult life of Danny Torrance, the little boy who survived the legendary novel and films The Shining by Stephen King.
From Flanagan we have recently enjoyed the Netflix series, Haunting of Hill House, and his style is evident in the first images we have of the adaptation. Although The Shining was based on a psychological thriller with a supernatural feel, the film that we will be seeing in November in cinemas seems to have the same phenomenon style. Here is the synopsis from Warner Bros.:
“Doctor Sleep continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based upon the novel by Stephen King. Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality. Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.”
The cast is spearheaded by McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Bruce Greenwood, Zahn McClarnon, and Jacob Tremblay. We will have to wait until November 8 to enjoy this promising film. However, we can at least, for now, see another adaptation from Stephen King, It: Chapter II, which will hit theaters next September 6.
