Director and actress Oliva Wilde will direct a new Marvel film for Sony. According to Deadline, Wilde will direct a film focused on a female character from the Spider-Man universe.
Based on rumors raised in recent months, the film is likely to focus on Spider-Woman, a beloved character in the Marvel comics.
Just a few hours ago, Olivia Wilde shared the news on her social networks and posted a spider emoji along with it, so apparently the rumors were true and Sony is preparing the arrival of ‘Spider-Woman’, which is said to be totally renewed for the film. The new approach that the studio will give it is still unknown.

This would be the second film based on a female character from the Spider-Man universe to be produced by Sony, it was previously revealed that SJ Clarkson would direct a Madame Webb film, thus reaffirming their intention to one day return Peter Parker home. This might be an idea that will not fit well with Marvel, since it means that they would have to part with one of their main Avengers.
The film will be written by Wilde and Katie Silberman, with production from Amy Pascal. Rachel O’Connor will serve as executive producer.
Olivia Wilde made her directorial debut in one of the most praised films in 2019, the comedy Book Smart.
Sony continues with its plan to create its own extended universe, spearheaded by 2018’s Venom and Morbius, which opens in theaters next year.
