West Midlands police warned that a group of young people between the ages of 13 and 19 interrupted a Star City Cinema room located in the city of Birmingham, England, armed with machetes during the premiere of Frozen 2, last Saturday, causing panic between the spectators.

The event caused the complex to be evacuated immediately, given that the attack was perpetuated by about 100 armed youth, according to police. Two machetes were seized during the operation, evidence of fighting was found, and seven policemen were slightly injured while dealing with the crowds in and around the cinema.

“The police told everyone to leave the cinema as they held Taser guns in their hands and started to bring in guard dogs,” An eyewitness named Allison commented. “I spoke to a policeman who told me it is unclear whether the kids had weapons and also stated when kids fight they bring their group of friends.”

Supt Ian Green, from Birmingham police, expresses: “This was a major outbreak of trouble which left families who were just trying to enjoy a night out at the cinema understandably frightened.”

So far five teenagers have been arrested. A 13-year-old girl, another girl and a 14-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers. Another 14-year-old boy was arrested for obstructing the police.

Police said they are working to understand the reason behind the disorder, which bears the characteristics of an organized struggle between rival groups.
