The Black Widow movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally receiving positive news. After months of searching for a director, the company just might have found the ideal person to take the adventures of the Black Widow to the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , Cate Shortland will be the woman who directs the film starring Scarlett Johansson, and is best known for films like Lore or Berlin Syndrome. Marvel interviewed more than 75 directors for this film, although one of the demands was that they preferred a woman who would bring the story of Black Widow to the big screen.

Earlier this year, Marvel hired screenwriter Jac Schaeffer, who has to write the script setting to the story before the events of the first The Avengers movie.

The first time that Black Widow made his appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was in Iron Man 2 , in 2010. Since then she has been in The Avengers, Captain America : Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers : Infinity War.

She is also expected to appear in Avengers 4 , a film that currently does not have a definite title. The character of Johansson has had a central role and preponderant in most movies, however she does not have her own film, compared to her male counterparts such as Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America and more recently Spider -Man.
