His return to the franchise was only a matter of time.

Star Wars is one of the most acclaimed titles in science fiction, for the number of stories and the infinite possibilities to expand their universe. This was demonstrated in The Mandalorian, the series brought to life on Disney +.

Since the premiere of A New Hope, one of the most favorited characters was Boba Fett, the intriguing bounty hunter who stole the show even as a minor role. Unfortunately, his fate was sealed in The Return of the Jedi, when he was swallowed up by Sarlacc. Fans were exceedingly disappointed with this.

After the news that Boba Fett will appear in the second installment of The Mandalorian, it only beggs the question, How did he survive the creature’s digestion? The answer probably lies within the franchise’s non-canonical expanded universe.

Through the comic books of Star Wars Legends, fans discovered how the hunter escaped the beast thanks to focus, commitment and shear willpower (John Wick), and Mandalorian armor.‌

In the comics, he became a legitimate Mandalorian and led the nation through the Yuuzhan Vong War. Later, he participated in the Second Galactic Civil War with a great adventure narrative on his shoulders.

While the similarities between the two characters are notorious, the creator of The Mandalorian, Jon Favreau, has emphasized that they actually have far more differences beyond the aesthetic.‌

The producer of Star Wars Rebels, Dave Filoni, said that Boba Fett is a clone. “If you ask George Lucas, he will tell you that he is not Mandalorian, because he was not born in Mandalore,” he emphasized, implying that they do not share the same customs or ideology.
