Tim Burton will make his first television series, and it’s intended to be a new adaptation of the iconic Addams Family. According to the report, Burton might direct all episodes of the new series of the strangest craziest family, which will be produced and written by showrunners of Smallville, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

According to the Deadline report, the story of the new live-action series of the Addams Family, could be developed in the current time like the animated film that just premiered, and will be told from the perspective of Merlina and her vision of the world in 2020. The series is being financed by MGM TV and have hinted that it might premiere on Netflix.

While Burton has focused on making movies for the last two decades, the current landscape may have pushed the filmmaker out into making a television series for the first time in his career.

In the past, Burton produced the animated series Beetlejuice (1989 to 1991), which was based on the original 1988 film, but this would be the first time he directs a television series.

The Adams Family was created by Charles Addams in 1938, and over the years with several iterations in film and television, including one of the most popular starring Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston and Christopher Lloyd.

The series does not have a release date or anything confirmed yet, other than Burton’s participation.
