The interpretation of Joaquin Phoenix in “Joker” is almost certain to get him an Oscar in 2020. During the awards season, he has given political speeches; but in his acceptance of the SAG Awards 2020 he decided to focus on his colleagues and a special one at that: Heath Ledger.

For the first time, he paid tribute to the artist, who died in 2008, who played the Joker in “Batman: The Dark Knight.” “I stand here on the shoulders of my favorite actor Heath Ledger,” he said.

During his speech at the SAG Awards, Joaquin Phoenix took the time to call attention to all the things he loves and respects from each of his colleagues and competitors in the category for Best Actor in a Movie.

Christian Bale (“Ford v Ferrari”), Leonardo DiCaprio (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”), Adam Driver (“Marriage Story”) and Taron Egerton (“Rocketman”) received their heartfelt words.

Thanks to his performance in “Joker“, Joaquin Phoenix has won the 2020 Golden Globe and the Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Actor. The film also won the Golden Lion, at the Venice Film Festival.
