It looks like the archer Avenger will be having a hard time holding his bow for a while. During an episode of Ellen, Jon Hamm recently revealed that Jeremy Renner broke both of his arms during the filming of Tag, which they both star in. It obviously happened a while back as Tag is set to arrive in theaters later this month. And, many speculate that this is why he was unable to appear in Avengers: Infinity War.
Hamm revealed that it occurred during the third day of production and that they still had 40 more days after that. He further states that he was surprised that Renner broke both arms at the same time considering that he has starred in many action-packed films and has completed them all injury free. Then he films some stunts for the movie Tag and breaks both arms; who’d have guessed!

Renner has never said that this was in fact the reason for his absence in Infinity Wars, although if this was the reason, his absence is totally justified. However, the actor has been able to shoot scenes for the still untitled Avengers 4, so it looks like he will be able to recover in time for the next chapter of Avengers which is set to hit theaters May 3, 2019.
