Reports began to propagate this week about what might be the release of the first Morbius movie trailer. This film adaptation from this Marvel character is being developed by Sony and will star Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club, Suicide Squad).
In that scheme, and while there is still zero confirmation regarding the trailer, on Friday afternoon a leaked photo began to catch fire on social media that is supposedly the first look at Leto as the living vampire.
According to Comicbook Movie, the photo was initially shared by user Vullein on Twitter, who had previously anticipated some details about the new trailer for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). Although this could inspire a certain degree of reliability, it should be noted that there is nothing else to support this supposed leak. It might not be anything more than a rumor.
That said, the photo in question shows Jared Leto fully characterized as Morbius with sharp fangs, red eyes and white skin. All portrayed in a pose similar to a comic strip from the Marvel comics.
In that sense, it is easy to speculate that if this image actually appears in the trailer it will be one of its most important scenes.
If you are not familiar with this character, it should be understood that this spin-off follows the same Venom line and therefore introduces us to another Spider-Man villain without the arachnid to save the day.
Thus, while in the 2018 film the focus was the symbiote and Eddie Brock, now the attention will be on Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who after a failed attempt to cure a rare blood disease ends up becoming nothing more or nothing less than a vampire.
The Morbius film will be released in July this year, will be directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life) and in addition to Leto will feature performances by Adria Arjona, Matt Smith and Tyrese Gibson.
