One of the great regrets that came with Hugh Jackman’s retirement as Wolverine in theaters is the fact that we will not see the actor relive the character in Marvel Studios films. Fans were hoping to see him in other hero adventures that never made it to the big screen. A classic comic book moment fans always wanted to see was the Hulk clash, which took place in Logan’s first comic appearance. And the Australian actor claims that his Wolverine would beat Mark Ruffalo’s Emerald Goliath if they met in theaters.

The actor commented on this in an interview with Sirius XM, where he talked about the fact that he was competing for the Emmy for best actor against Mark Ruffalo and took the time to joke about this fact, which was quickly associated with a confrontation between Wolverine and the Hulk, the two characters for which the actors are best known.

“I’m trying to reach out to him but he’s not taking my calls so I guess I’m somehow laying the track for another feud here,” Jackman joked. “Which thank goodness we are not in the same room together…. I’m laughing because Mark’s a very good friend of mine and I actually haven’t spoken to him about it. He’s absolutely astonishing in the show. I mean I think he is one of the best actors, certainly of our generation…. But Wolverine would beat him for sure let’s just be very clear…. I don’t know if you know this but The Wolverine actually appeared first in a Hulk comic. He was like a last page, some guy coming so it was The Hulk series he appeared so that’s sort of where that feud came from and then Wolverine sort of took on this whole life so I’m sure The Hulk is very jealous.”

Jackman was nominated for an Emmy for his performance in Bad Education, while Ruffalo was contending for his performance on the series I Know This Much Is True. The two are going up against actors Jeremy Irons ( Watchmen ), Paul Mescal ( Normal People ) and Jeremy Pope ( Hollywood ).
