Without a doubt, 2020 was an important year for WarnerMedia. After many worried that the studio was a bit behind schedule with the arrival of its ‘HBO Max’ streaming platform, WarnerMedia wowed people with its plethora of titles and many original projects. However, CEO Jason Kilar, in speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, argues that there is a lot of experimentation in the future and also, the potential for more “Harry Potter”, with new sequels and spin offs.

“There’s this little thing called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises. And we’re incredibly thankful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling and so I would argue there’s lot [sic] of fun and potential there as well.”

Obviously, more “Harry Potter” will make people want to go to the theaters and, now, subscribe to HBO Max, because in these times of pandemic, the platform has hosted many of the films that failed to have a premiere in the Cinema. That’s why many have been concerned that this deal is detrimental to the movie experience. And although at first they assured that it would only be during 2020, Kilar is no longer sure, but he predicts that right now, they are in the experimental phase of several options at the same time:

“I do tend to agree with Bob Chapek when he says it’s hard to imagine going back to 2015 in terms of the windows that existed for theatrical and everything that happened afterwards. It’s so dynamic. People are absolutely experimenting,” he concluded.
