One of the franchises that have been under stress the most in recent years is the DC Extended Universe since it has not been able to get ahead after setbacks like ‘Suicide Squad’ or ‘Justice League’, in addition to the loss of some of its protagonists such as Ben Affleck, who, even though has returned, apparently will not continue for long, and about Henry Cavill’s expected triumphant return to the franchise, things are not looking so well for the actor. According to some reports, JJ Abrams is preparing the Superman reboot without Henry Cavill.
After his appearance in ‘Justice League’ in 2017, this actor has not been seen again in the DCEU, and seemingly, there are no sequel plans for ‘Man of Steel’ despite the fact that other heroes are already getting their second part like Shazam or Aquaman, but evidently, he will return at least to do some cameos or supporting roles, although it is still unknown for which films.
According to information from sources close to Warner and DC, JJ Abrams is preparing the Superman reboot without Henry Cavill, as another version of the hero is being considered, supposedly outside the DCEU, something similar to Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’, but so far It is unknown if a possible script is already being worked on or if a protagonist is already in mind for this new version of Superman.
Currently Henry Cavill seems to be more interested in other types of projects such as the series ‘The Witcher’ for the Netflix platform, which has been very well received by the public and critics, and the second season is expected to arrive in 2021.
