As fans’ expectations grow anticipating what they might see in the shocking clash between Godzilla and King Kong, the film’s main antagonist is said to have been spotted in the trailer.
On January 24, we got to see the first Godzilla vs Kong trailer, and it gave us the first footage of a violent and dynamic clash between the two movie monsters.
But while some fans did not understand why Godzilla was being aggressive in the trailer, fans of the Monster Universe discovered that a well-known new character was also present in this trailer.
And this new character and probable antagonist of the film is none other than Mechagodzilla, a robotic version of Godzilla, but who in addition to possessing the same strength as the latter, also has an explosive arsenal of weapons including missiles and laser rays.
Mechagodzilla is a character well known to Godzilla fans as he first appeared in the 1974 Japanese film, Godzilla vs. Mekanic Monster.

In addition to the image seen above which appears to show this big villain in full size, the robot can also be seen as a diagram in another scene in the trailer.

This robotic version of Godzilla should therefore be the real antagonist of the film. We can probably venture to guess that Godzilla and Kong will end up joining forces to take down this new extremely formidable threat.
Godzilla vs Kong will be released in theaters and HBO Max on March 17, 2021.
