One of the stars of Game of thrones is Universal’s first choice to bring the mythological god to life.

The latest video game adaptations have yielded value to a genre that has not had success on the big screen. Detective Pikachu and the latest box office hit Sonic: the Hedgehog managed to lift some of the dignity it had lost after disasters like Doom or Assassins Creed.‌

However, since it was leaked that Universal is preparing a movie based on God of War, the project seems to have success as its only destination. Previous reports indicated that the film studio was targeting Jason Momoa to play the iconic role of Kratos, and now an update on the information reveals that there is interest for his father’s role, Zeus.

According to reports by the media, it is rumored that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is Universal’s first choice to bring to life the most important Greek god of Olympus. The media sources assure that, although the star of the Game of thrones series has not yet been contacted, the production of the live-action of God of war is eager to include him as soon as possible in its casting process.

The plot of the film is speculated to follow the exploits of Kratos in ancient Greece. However, it emerged that Universal wants to make God of War a trilogy, so they would bring the entire saga of the video game to the big screen. For now, the studio has not announced the release date of its new project.
