You have probably heard that we know more about space than we do about the ocean, and now, new discoveries prove that there are impressive creatures never seen before in our beautiful sea.

This peculiar species which was found by researchers, immediately drew the attention of thousands of people due to it’s distinguished size and shape.

It is a new species of crustacean that was discovered in the deep darkness of the sea at a depth between 3,000 and 4,000 feet during an expedition in 2018; however, the finding has just been released in ZooKeys magazine.

This distinguished specimen was called Bathynomus rakasa and is considered to be the “gigantic cockroach ” of the sea, this due to its resemblance to these insects land creatures.

However, what was truly striking was not that it was the largest cockroach in the sea, but that the face of this crustacean bears a peculiar resemblance to a character that we all know, Darth Vader.

The marine animal has captivated audiences on the internet due to its resemblance to this Star Wars character, mainly in the physical appearance it has on its head.

The animal was found by Researchers from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and the National University of Singapore, it measures about 1 foot, which so far makes it one of the largest specimens of this type of crustacean.
