It is becoming clear to us that Marvel Studios needs James Gunn and not the other way around. Before being dishonorably fired from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the director announced that he was working on Brightburn, a superhero horror film he had written with his brother and cousin. Only this time he got David Yarovesky (The Belko Experiment) to direct it. Today, the second trailer of this project was released and we can only express that our deepest wish is to see it on the big screen.
The film is defined by Sony Pictures as a new version of horror superhero cinema genre, starting off with a twisted vision of Superman mixed with The Omen. This second trailer shows us that the character’s evil behavior is due, in part, to the bullying he received at school.
The film stars David Denman, Gregory Allen Williams, Matt Jones, Meredith Hagner and Steve Agee. It opens on May 24.
