As you probably already knew, Disney is preparing an adaptation, a real live-action of their famous animated film Aladdin. Well the first images have already been released and it seems that there are not many people happy with what they see in them.

As it did with Beauty and the Beast or we will soon see with The Lion King  and  Dumbo – to mention just a few examples – Disney will adapt the story of Aladdin in real-live action. That means we can soon go to the cinema and once again enjoy this story except that the characters are portrayed by real actors.

The first Aladdin transported Disney fans in 1992 to a fictional world in the Middle East, where magic and inspiration from the folk tales of Arabian Nights made the film one of the most successful movies of the franchise and helped to further consolidate the animation portfolio of the world’s largest entertainment company.

That’s why Disney has not had to think long to release this story again, directed by director Guy Ritchie ( Snatch , Sherlock Holmes ) and starring Mena Massoud, in the role of Aladdin, Naomi Scott, as Jasmine, and the charismatic Will Smith, in charge of giving life to the famous and hilarious Genie.

Although when the first images of Beauty and the Beast came out they received a lot of praise – Emma Watson’s choice as Bella was one of the most applauded decisions – and The Lion King’s teaser has only generated more expectation, the same has not happened after unveiling the first images of Aladdin , obtained exclusively by Entertainment Weekly.

The biggest disappointment seems to be in Will Smith , or rather, of course, in his characterization of The Genie. This character, who was once voiced by Robbin Williams, is color blue. People have not liked that the actor is not portrayed in the same spectrum as the one we grew up knowing and imagined.

There is no doubt that Will Smith has had a rough. Just days ago “YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind,” in which he leaves at the beginning and at the end, became the most hated video in the history of the platform. Now,audiences do not like his personification for the adaptation of the Disney movie. Evidently the actor is not to blame in all of this, but he is still an indirect protagonist.

We will have to wait to see the teaser or first trailer of the film – it premieres on May 2019 – to help us confirm if this adaptation is a good idea or not. At the moment social networks seem to have the loudest voice and opinion.
