After waiting years for the development of the recent ‘Star Wars‘ trilogy, many fans were disappointed by the ‘Episode IX‘ narrative, entitled ‘The Rise of Skywalker‘.

Following the negative reviews of the film, several reports pointed out that Disney restricted JJ Abrams’ ideas, and that the director ended up delivering a plot that conformed to the studio’s goals.

In addition, a Reddit user stated that the released version seen in theaters was drastically altered from the story originally devised by Abrams, claiming that there are various scenes excluded.

With that in mind, a fan created a petition on Change.org demanding that Disney release the original material.

In part, the individual accountable for the request says that:

“JJ originally had a 3+ hour cut of the film however Disney took creative control over Star Wars and prevented JJ from telling the full story he had in mind. Please read the article linked below for full insider details on this cut of the film and how Disney blindsided JJ Abrams.”

To date, the plea has registered more than 9,000 signatures.

Meanwhile, the #releasetheJJcut tag is gaining momentum on social media.
