It’s been more than a decade since Enchancted premiered in theaters and although the develping details for the sequel are moving along slowly, the Den of Geek website asked the legendary Disney composer,  Alan Menken, who composed the music for the first movie, if the sequel is still among Disney’s plans. To the delight of the fans, Menken confirmed that Enchanted 2 is definitely going to happen.

“Yes, we are doing Encantada 2,” Menken said. “We have had meetings. Five films I have right now that are waiting for a greenlight. They’re all standing at the light right now, and at some point they’re going to go ‘greenlight’!” he said.

The 2007 the musical comedy won the hearts of the public and critics for its witty dialogues, its witty situations, its amazing mix of real-life image and animation, as well as its extravagant musical numbers, earning $340.4 million dollars worldwide.

The film represented a turning point in the career of the six-time Oscar nominee, Amy Adams (she won the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy or musical for this role), gave birth to the young maiden named Giselle. She lived happily in a lively land called Andalasia, until she is sent to the city of New York by an evil queen and ends up falling in love with a lawyer.

All the details about the production of the sequel have been sporadically revealed through these years. We know that the script for the film, wich is so far titled Disenchanted, has been completed. In an interview with Variety in February of this year, director Adam Shankman (Bulletproof Babysitter, Hairspray, Rock of Ages ) revealed that he worked closely with the lyricists Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz to accomplish this goal.

On October of last year, Patrick Dempsey,  who played the love interest of Amy Adams said to Entertainment Tonight,  the cast hoped to join, but only if they planned to keep up with the magic of the first film: “I think it’s such a beloved movie we need to make sure it’s right before we move forward. And certainly, Amy was remarkable in that film and she’s an incredible actress and James Marsden as well. We’ll see, I hope it can live up to what we did originally, that’s the important thing. If it happens, then we do it.”

We hope it all comes together.
