After fulfilling a huge undertaking for the fans by releasing the Justice League from Snyder Cut, the DC Universe continues with their next task, as Warner has confirmed that the magician Zatanna movie is underway. And although the project already has a writer, it still does not have a protagonist, the fans are already asking for Alexandra Daddario to take on the mantle.

According to Variety, the studio has hired director Emerald Fennell to write and possibly direct Zatanna. The news comes shortly after the filmmaker earned five Oscar nominations for her movie Promising Young Woman, including best picture, screenplay, and Carey Mulligan for leading actress.

Created by Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson, Zatanna is considered one of the most powerful sorceresses in DC. Her magical abilities are inherited from her father, Giovanni Zatara, a renowned alchemist. During some of the toughest times, he has collaborated with the Justice League and Justice League Dark, to defeat threats of a magical nature.

JJ Abrams will produce the film through his Bad Robot company, so it will be Zatanna’s first appearance on the big screen, although she did show up briefly on the Smallville television in the series, where she was played by Serinda Swan. At the moment Warner has not announced the leading actress of the film.

With the announcement of Fennell as the scriptwriter, and possible director of the film, fans have once again taken to social media asking Warner to cast Daddario for the title role.

At the moment, no date has been announced for the onset of filming or premiere of Zatanna’s film.
