When we talk about Chernobyl, the new series from HBO, we anticipate that it was one of the best ideas from the platform so far this year. And it seems that we are not the only ones who think so. IMDb, the popular online database has it listed as the best series to reach the top rating in its history. Is it rising to the top way too soon?

Chernobyl, With The Highest IMDb Score In History

Chernobyl is continuing a revolution. The HBO mini-series has not only revived a very delicate issue that changed part of our history and that many, especially younglings, do not know about, they have also managed to transport us literally to the former Soviet Union. They have made us partakers of the gray and hermetic scenario in which the disaster of the Vladimir Ilyich Lenin nuclear power plant in Pripyat was lived.

Such is the quality and impact of the TV series that the reactions did not take long to present themselves across the internet. Since the release of the first episode (it has a total of 5, two of them not yet released), many expert voices have already been raised, pointing to this production as one of the best surprises of 2019 and praising the excellent work of its director, Johan Renck.

Not only do we find positive evaluations among the most knowledgeable. The large audience, the sovereign public that is in charge of elevating or burying what is broadcast on TV, have also expressed their favor and there are enough fans who have ascended Chernobyl to the highest praise. Such is the case that, in fact, they have managed to take it to the top at IMDb, surpassing titles such as Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones or Blood Brothers.

In case you do not know, IMDb is a huge US database -owned by Amazon, where you can find the description of every movie, series, documentary or actor that crosses your mind. It is full of photos, videos, film notes and endless data in which any audiovisual lover can get lost for hours.

HBO

It also has a ranking in which users can vote, thus giving their rating to all the titles that are classified in the database. And that is where Chernobyl has come to tremendously benefit. After 59,427 votes at the time of writing these lines, the series has reached a score of 9.7 out of 10 and is in the first is place,  something that had not even reached major series in the history of television as Breaking Bad (9, 5), The Sopranos (9.5) or Game of Thrones (9.4) although the latter has had the last season so heavily criticized that it was expected to plummet lower than the rest.

One thing can be said in favor of the best TV drama series, Breaking Bad, it has a 9 and a half after 1,202,248 votes, nothing to do with the still small volume of votes from Chernobyl. The same goes for Game of Thrones, which gathers the opinion of more than one and a half million people.

Still, it seems that the trend is to give a very high score to the new series from HBO so it is without a doubt that it will end up in the top 5 on the IMDb ranking.
