Here is a word from the author of the book that inspired the film!
One of the most popular Netflix original films from 2018, was Bird Box, inspired by the book of the same name by Josh Malerman, starring Sandra Bullock. Due to the success, Malerman wrote a sequel, “Malorie,” and according to him an adaptation of the book is already in development on the streaming platform.
In an interview with Inverse, Malerman commented on the success of ”Bird Box” and what the future holds for the franchise. He confirmed that a new film is being developed, but did not give many details:
“I can’t say much, but I can say that [the new film] is in development,” said Malerman, who continued: “Sometimes it’s weird, all this secrecy, but I’m game.”
The new book will be released on July 21, continuing Malorie’s plot, portrayed by Sandra Bullock, who needs to keep her children safe in a post-apocalyptic world, where people can die just by seeing he creatures that decimated humanity. For now, there is no release date for the Netflix movie sequel.
